Going back to school – finding the lowest prices for your essentials

Shopping during August and September for school supplies can be a hassle. There are lines at every store, and everyone is rushing to get the supplies first. One way you can avoid all this chaos is by shopping for your things online.

The eBay online marketplace is one easy location to find all the dorm furniture and school supplies you need for the new year. If you don’t really have experience with online shopping, this can sound daunting, but do not fear. Our team at StreetPricer has been working with sellers for years, so we have our fair share of experience with eBay. Read on to find some great tips on how to find the best products on the eBay marketplace.

If it is too good to be true, it probably is

Prices on eBay have to be realistic; otherwise, the seller will be losing money. If you find furniture that is too cheap or brand new textbooks for super low prices, then you have probably found a scam. Try to avoid the products that look way too cheap then what they should be. It is better to find the prices that are slightly more realistic, but not being scammed.

Look into the seller

Once you have found a product and a price you like, the next step is to research the seller. Go into their feedback page, and try to see if there are any reviews left by previous customers. Avoid the sellers that have too many negative feedbacks or no feedback at all. If they have a 99.8% positive feedback rating or higher for the last 12 months, then you can be sure that you have found a good deal.

Read the description

Most people only look at the photos of a product and press buy. But, this can lead to disappointment. Some people will post photos of a computer and the box, but the description will state that only the box is being sold. To avoid any disappointments and mistakes, make sure to read the full description to see what you are going to receive after you make the purchase.

Never accept outside offers

If a dealer asks for a money transfer outside of the eBay platform, claiming it will be faster, immediately cancel this deal. These are usually scams, and you are not going to receive your product. If you end up getting scammed, then there will be no one to report it to since it was done outside of eBay. The platform is built with all the necessary tools for buyer safety and protection, along with refunds in most scam cases, so make all your deals inside the platform.

Shopping on eBay can be very affordable and is surely going to save you a lot of money and time. Try to spend some time comparing prices and researching sellers to find the perfect product. Dorm furniture, textbooks, and school supplies can be expensive and hard to find, but if you know how to shop on eBay, shopping can be fun!
